Sunsets & Sunrises

The other day I watched the sunrise and I was struck by a thought and a new revelation.

Sunsets and sunrises are always changing. They make small changes at a time. When you are staring at one you don't notice huge changes. You might see a slight change here and there but nothing major to shock you. If you stare directly at one spot and focus only on that spot it becomes even harder to notice the changes. However, even still there are changes happening all around.

Whats interesting is that if you look away even for just a short time and you look back you notice a dramatic difference in the whole scene. You might even see something new that appeared that you hadn't noticed before.

There comes a point in all sunrises and sunsets where you think the most beautiful part about it has been already revealed. However, in my experience, if you stick around a little longer you get blown away by even more spectacular colors!

Why do Ilove sunrises and sunset so much? Because they remind  me of God. He is a mysterious, vastly HUGE God. We always come to a point where we think we have comprehended Him, but then ..... BAM! He reveals something completely new about Himself to us. We serve an incredibly mysterious awesome God!

What is my picture of Him now? How has my perspective of Him changed?

I see Him as a deep intimate God. A God who my mind could never fully comprehend let alone predict. The more I get to know Him the more mysterious He gets to me. Yet He still chooses to let me in and reveals a little more about Himself to me. He reveals some of His mysteries to me, and He is someone that I can share my secrets with.

Just when I think I have seen and know everything about Him, He shows me and teaches me a little more.

He is just like the sunrises and sunsets. I have to be patient and look for more. Because there is so much more He wants me to see. His mysteries are never ending. He is a very interesting captivating God.

Where is my picture of Him incomplete?

I cannot forget the simplicity of just being with Him. He is someone you can relate with. He does hold many mysteries for me to see, but He is not so far off that I cannot have relationship with Him. He is a relational God. For that I am so thankful.
