"Come to Me"

"Come to Me, all who are weary and heavy-laden, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you, and learn from Me, for I am gentle and humble in heart; and YOU SHALL FIND REST FOR YOUR SOULS. For My yoke is easy, and My load is light." -Matthew 11:28-30

It is true what the scripture says, "Come to Me, all who are weary and heavy-laden, and I will give you rest." The more I take time to focus and abide in Christ, the less self-conscious I become.
I too often struggle in a place of, "woe is me". I have the tendency to focus on my self and my problems. My prayers become all about me and what I need instead of being focused on others and expanding God's Kingdom. I find myself tired and frustrated of this old routine. I end up finding myself in a low spot, feeling all alone, seperated from God and everyone. At this point I am carrying the weight of all my problems on my shoulders. With all that weight I begin to lose hope.

But then I read scripture. What a beautiful thing it is, bringing me back to my only hope, Jesus Christ. The Bible says, "Come to Me". All I have to do is come to Him. Abide in Him, and He will give me rest! When I begin to focus on Christ and who He is I realize how big He is and how insignificant me and my problems really are. I begin to see nothing is too big to handle and He can take care of me. I don't have to carry the weight of my struggles on my shoulders as I have been. The more I abide in Him the more I become conscious of His heart. I become conscious of His heart for the people around me and my prayers begin to shift off myself and back on to others and His kingdom. I begin to remember what is most important in this life. The more Christ-conscious I am the less self-conscious I will be. It takes all the pressure off me and onto Him. For Him, it is no pressure because He is such a huge God. Nothing is too difficult for Him. That is why His burden is light. That is why it can bring me rest. There is nothing too big for Him to handle. Therefore I can pray boldly with expectation:) I can pray as a child would, and be as carefree.
